2018 Christensen Arms/Huntin' Fool Story Contest

Official Rules
No Purchase Necessary to Enter or Win

  1. ELIGIBILITY: Contest is offered and open to all hunters, but current Huntin’ Fool members, anyone residing with or related to a Huntin’ Fool member, and Endorsed Outfitters will be given first priority. You must have successfully harvested a qualifying big game animal during the 2017 calendar year to participate in this contest. If the story is not written by the hunter, the prizes will go to the author. Void where prohibited by law. Each entrant must be of legal hunting age in the state in which they are hunting. U.S. laws govern this contest. The winners may not be an employee of Huntin’ Fool (“Sponsor”) nor an individual domiciled with any such employee. By entering, you agree to these Official Rules, which are final and binding in all respects.

  2. STORY REQUIREMENTS: 2017 hunt stories are preferable. Any story submitted pertaining to a hunt prior to 2017 will not be considered for printing in the magazine. Animal must be harvested legally in accordance with state and federal regulations. Stories must be 500 to 1,200 words. Entrants must submit a signed Intent to Use agreement to be eligible. You must also submit a minimum of three photos to qualify. Sponsor reserves the right to edit stories for content and/or length without notice. Submit stories via email to submit@huntinfool.com, by uploading everything onto our website at www.huntinfool.com, or by mail to 2018 Huntin’ Fool Story Contest, PO Box 250, Cedar City, UT 84721. When submitting your stories, include the location of the hunt, species, name, address, and contact information. Include the very best kill photos and indicate if you have additional photos. Please keep emails less than 20MB due to email servers potentially blocking large emails. Contact us at 435-865-1020 with questions about submitting stories.

  3. CONTEST PERIOD: Contest period begins on January 1, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) and ends on December 31, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (MST). We will accept stories as soon as you have successfully completed a 2017 hunt. All entries must be received by October 1, 2018 at the latest to be considered for the December 2018 issue.

  4. CONSUMER DISCLOSURE - PRIZES AND ODDS OF WINNING: A full description of each prize package, and associated retail value, can be found on our website. Entrants must submit their entries in accordance with these Official Rules. Deadlines are identified under “CONTEST PERIOD.” The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. It is expressly understood that Sponsor is under no obligation to the entrants, potential winners and winners, other than as expressly set forth herein. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and fees associated with the receipt and use of any prize.

  5. ENTRY FOR CONTEST: Entry may be made by mail or by email to submit@huntinfool.com. Stories must be mailed to: 2018 Huntin’ Fool Story Contest, PO Box 250, Cedar City, UT 84721. Complete submittal requirements are identified under “STORY REQUIREMENTS.” Sponsor is not responsible for any lost, incomplete, illegible, late, mutilated or misdirected entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void any and all entries of an entrant who Sponsor believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest; and to cancel the contest.

  6. EXCLUSIVITY: All entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned, unless otherwise requested by Submitter. Sponsor reserves the exclusive right to publish any story submitted. With a signed Intent to Use Agreement, Submitter agrees not to submit their story, a description of their hunt, or any photos from that hunt to any other competing hunt magazine for print without first informing Huntin’ Fool (excluding conservation magazines and newsletters). In essence, Huntin’ Fool has first rights to publish their hunt story in print. Furthermore, Huntin’ Fool has permission to use any photo(s) submitted by the hunter/author for use on their website or other electronic form or any media, including print, or in any other manner desired without notifying Submitter. Huntin’ Fool, in return, agrees to credit the hunter/photographer with the photo wherever possible.

  7. VOTING: By participating in the voting portion of the Readers’ Choice Story Contest, each voting participant agrees to be bound by the official contest rules. Voting is limited to one vote per person. Voters using multiple email addresses will be immediately disqualified and forbidden from future voting. If an entrant receives multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means, or other source, Huntin’ Fool reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion. Any evidence of vote buying, rigging, or exchanging will disqualify the entry. Any individual who, at the sole determination of the Sponsor, abuses the voting process in any way will be disqualified from participating in the voting. If the contest includes the use of an internet tool and the internet voting process fails to operate properly or appears to be tampered with or tainted with errors, fraud or unfair practices, the Sponsor reserves the right to use another means to determine the winner(s), i.e. random selection or appointing a panel of judges. All decisions of the judges are final. In the event of a tie, the Sponsor will select the winner via a random drawing from among all tied entries for that month’s competition. For the Cover Story Contest, the winner is voted upon by a panel of judges. All decisions of the judges are final.

  9. AWARD AND PRIZES: Each person who submits a story with an Intent to Use agreement to Huntin’ Fool for one year will be eligible for the 2018 Story Contest. Of the stories submitted, approximately 150 will be published in the Huntin’ Fool magazine. The hunters/authors whose stories are published in the magazine will receive four free copies of the issue in which they were published. In addition, those members whose stories were printed in the Huntin’ Fool magazine will receive a Huntin’ Fool Story Package valued at $160 that includes a Huntin’ Fool jacket, a Huntin’ Fool hat, and an Outdoor Edge knife. Each story selected for the 12 covers of the Huntin’ Fool magazine will receive a Christensen Arms ELR bolt action rifle. All published stories (excluding the cover story) and Web Stories will be combined and selected as Readers’ Choice Stories and voted on each month by our readers. Each month, the story with the highest number of votes will receive a high-end Leupold spotting scope. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner. Gift certificates or prizes will be delivered to winners on or before January 20, 2019. Winners have the right to forfeit any prize, which forfeiture must be done in a signed writing. Prizes will not be reassigned and alternative potential winners will not be selected. Prizes are non-transferable.

  10. TAXES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNERS: The winners shall be responsible for all taxes, fees, or other costs, including, without limitation, any travel or transportation costs, associated with winning.

  11. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Prizes are non-transferable, subject to change, and there are no substitutions on any prizes (Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes). The depiction of the prizes in any advertising or promotional materials may not reflect the actual prize delivered to the winners.

  12. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: Sponsor or participating sponsors, and their respective affiliates, employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, successors, assigns, and licensees (“Released Parties”) shall not be liable for any property loss, damage, personal injury, or death or any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, resulting from participating in this contest or from the acceptance or use of the prizes awarded. Any dispute shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action.

  13. LIABILITY/PUBLICITY RELEASE: The potential winners shall each be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release by December 31, 2018 and prior to receipt of each prize or forfeit the prize. By submitting an entry and participating in this contest, entrants irrevocably transfer, grant and assign to the Sponsor, its affiliates and its respective successors, assigns, and licensees (unless prohibited by law), the right worldwide and in perpetuity, to use entrant’s name, likeness, voice and photograph in any and all media for any advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, as well as on the Sponsor’s website in connection with this contest and other promotions, and release Sponsor and any entity acting on behalf of Sponsor from any liability with respect thereto.

  14. FIREARMS: All winners must fill out all appropriate paperwork prior to receiving a firearm. It is the sole responsibility of the winner to file appropriate paperwork.

A contest entry packet may be obtained by calling 435-865-1020 and requesting a contest entry packet. The packet may also be obtained by following the appropriate hyperlink and instructions on www.huntinfool.com. A list of the official winners may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to 2018 Huntin’ Fool Story Contest - Winners List, PO Box 250, Cedar City, UT 84721. Vermont residents may omit return postage.
